Escape Magazine – Fashion – Everyday Dreamer

The Christmas holidays are upon us… us being the students at Norsk Fotofagskole. After 3 intense weeks of hard work, it feels deserved. 3 intense, but incredibly fun, and inspiring weeks. Our teacher GT gave us a very open assignment, it was a group project with 8 members in each group and we were told to make a fashion magazine. We got to choose the name ourself, and we went for “Escape” and decided we wanted a fairly glossy magazine. The members of the group were: Ole Ekker, Madeleine Nilsson, Nina Mørk Johansen, Bente Isefjær, Erik Drabløs, Johannes Selvaag, Ingunn Grøntvedt and myself.

Only requirements were that our series included one of each of the following:

- Celebrity shoot (cover story)

- Winter series

- Mens fashion

- Party/eveningwear

- Haut Coutour

- Retro

the rest of the series we could chose ourselves.

I went for a studio shoot based on Paolo Roversi’s “A White Story”, model is Amanda S from Trend Models, hair and makeup by Trine Sundli:

The whole magazine can be viewed as a video here:

or as a flash document that you can flip through at your own pace (by clicking the corners) at http://www.escape-magazine.net

I also want to congratulate the whole group for winning the competition for best magazine! Well done guys :)

Tine Products – A small taster

A couple of the images for the product shoot of Tine Meieri products. Importance of the shoot was to represent color, size and shape properly, on a grey background.

Setup is quite simple. One large metal sheet that is curved up against a folded up ping-pong table, one sotbox behind the table pointing down behind the product (this is used to change the intensity of the grey color (more light, lighter grey), a softbox camera left, 45-45 about, to light up the left side of the carton. Lastly, a white piece of styrofoam on the right, just of camera to reflect some light back on the side of the carton, reducing the shadows.

Fashion Update – Trine Eide

Today was our last day of fashion this time around. It was a good, but busy 3 weeks, learnt a LOT. GT (teacher) walked us through both lighting, but maybe more educational, his workflow in post-processing the images. A fair bit I already knew, but he helped fine-tune a few of my steps, especially the color-correction.

Sunday the 17th of January I had my last fashion shoot (giving me a lot of time to do the editing, allowing me not to stress). The shoot was set at Hotell Britannia in town, Trine Eide turned up punctual as always, ready for the task of model. Bjørn Christiansen brought along some extra camera and lighting gear and was great help as assistant, and so was Mathilde Nordstrand, having 2 extra pair of hands proved very helpful for the shots taken in the stairs as the stands wouldnt stand by themselves. Tina Larsen did a fantastic job as always on hair/makeup and styling. So a big thanks to all of you!

Below are some of the results from the shoot. I would have liked to have been able to use the brighter room next door, but due to the hotel staff having a birthday celebration that part was off-limits (maybe next time).
