(heart) Edinburgh

With the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (one of the worlds largest comedy festivals… and more) slowly approaching, I really really really wish I was in what is one of Europe’s most amazingly beautiful and magical cities… Edinburgh (duh)…

Old picture… but I assume the castle hasn’t changed too much…

Taken during a fantastic day spent in the park with my favourite P.

Miss Edinburgh, don’t miss Chemistry…

Just because we have handed in our school work doesn’t mean we take the night off. Instead, 8 of us from school accepted the invitation to capture the opening night of the Kosmorama Film Festival. For the opening of the festival, they had lined up the world premiere of the movie “En helt vanlig dag på jobben” (An ordinary day at work), which tells the story of Håvard Melnæs (portrayed by Jan Gunnar Røise) who worked as a journalist for Se og Hør (Norway’s lead weekly tabloid). He is most famous for his coverage of Princess Mette-Marit, through taking advantage of her alcoholic father. By pampering him and his drinking problem, he was able to get Se og Hør all the scoops, all the pictures etc. as well as an exclusive contract on interviews with him. Should note that Håvard Melnæs eventually suffered anxiety due to the stress and the guilt, that he left Se og Hør, and published the book that this movie is based on to reveal how the tabloid industry to the rest of the population… Very interesting!

Amongst the notable appearences was the director Terje Rangnes, the producer Ørjan Karlsen, the lead actor Jan Gunnar Røise and the actress portraying the Princess Mette-Marit (Kristin Eidså)

Before the main feature, a sweet little short film was shown “Skylappjenta” created by and starring Iram Haq… the exact moral of the story eluded me… but the visuals were fantastic, and the references to Little Red Riding Hood added to the enjoyment… worth watching!! Below you can see the star herself with the festival director Ole Lund Renolen (who is wearing a very shiny suit designed by Moods of Norway)

And the former Culture Minister… who is now the Minister of Commerce, Trond Giske (Arbeiderpartiet… Labour Party) also showed up, here posing with the postergirl for Kosmorama, the absolutely fabulous, Linn Heidi Stokkedal who is second year student at Norsk Fotofagskole… and who attended Lundehaugen Videregående the year before I taught there (I think thats right…)
