Fashion Update – Trine Eide

Today was our last day of fashion this time around. It was a good, but busy 3 weeks, learnt a LOT. GT (teacher) walked us through both lighting, but maybe more educational, his workflow in post-processing the images. A fair bit I already knew, but he helped fine-tune a few of my steps, especially the color-correction.

Sunday the 17th of January I had my last fashion shoot (giving me a lot of time to do the editing, allowing me not to stress). The shoot was set at Hotell Britannia in town, Trine Eide turned up punctual as always, ready for the task of model. Bjørn Christiansen brought along some extra camera and lighting gear and was great help as assistant, and so was Mathilde Nordstrand, having 2 extra pair of hands proved very helpful for the shots taken in the stairs as the stands wouldnt stand by themselves. Tina Larsen did a fantastic job as always on hair/makeup and styling. So a big thanks to all of you!

Below are some of the results from the shoot. I would have liked to have been able to use the brighter room next door, but due to the hotel staff having a birthday celebration that part was off-limits (maybe next time).

Still going full steam ahead with fashion at school.

For our first individual project we were to take 2 pictures on a white background and 2 on a grey background. One full figure and one half figure  for each.

I decided to attempt to contrast the look from the last shoot, by instead of going edgy, to go more sweet/dreamy/romantic/what-have-you. I wanted soft light and elegant or innocent poses. This would also end up giving the shoot a more catalogue feel than the last shoot.

For the white background, I had been somewhat (though just vaguely) inspired by the J’adore Dior advert with Charlize Theron where she was wearing a gold dress, her skin being golden and her hair a very warm golden color as well. I knew however that it would need to go with white background, rather than the blackish one in the adverts… so it wasn’t gonna be all that similar.

Strobist: One spot on the background, one large softbox pointed up in the ceiling and one large softbox pointed towards the wall behind me. This gives a very soft light.

For the next image, I used same lighting setup, but moved a few steps back so that the softbox pointed towards the wall behind me was just in front of the camera (well… and to the side), giving the washed out effect. (wanting to go for a bit of a more dreamy feel with that)

For these next two I wanted a summer feel.

Strobist: One large softbox just off to the right (likely 45/45)  and one fill bounced off somewhere… i forget…

Thanks to Trine for taking time out of her busy schedule for the shoot, and I think she did a fantastic job both on the modelling and on the styling.

Fashion Shoot – Trine Eide

The Christmas holidays are over and we are going full steam ahead at school. First course of the new year is “Models in Studio”… in other words… fashion!

First task was a “group project” but with individual evaluation. We had 10 people in our group, and we had to organize models, stylists and styling  as a group. Our group did a great job at organizing, and I felt we worked very well together. I felt a bit guilty as one of our stylists (Tina) sadly didn’t have as much to do at the start as we had planned, but sorted it out by getting her to help Bjørn Christiansen with his model.

For right now I am just going to leave you with two shots from my 10-15 minutes with the model Trine Eide… I am quite pleased to say the least.
