Vanity Fair Portraits – Review

Thought I would do my first quick book review for the blog. I was lucky enough to be living in Edinburgh (during the graduation celebration period) when Vanity Fair Portrait Exhibition, and I was blown away. A friend of mine, Lizzy, bought me the Vanity Fair Portraits book for my birthday last year, mostly due to the big collection of Annie Leibovitz photographs in it. I have to say, its one of my favourite birthday presents ever.

First thing that you will notice is the fantastic portrait of Kate Moss by Mert and Marcus… and ofcourse the sheer size of the book, with about 380 pages or so. Besides a few pages all the way at the beginning, its fully packed with top quality photos, quite a few taking up two whole pages (making it larger than A3). Basically, the book covers some of the greatest portraits that have been printed in Vanity Fair since it started up in 1914 up until 2008 (some of the big names shown are Annie Leibovitz, Jonas Karlsson, Mario Testino, Snowdon, Herb Ritts and Edward Steichen).

The quality of this book is superb, and the amount of inspiring work is almost overwhelming. For only 28 pounds (about 280 kroner + shipping) I think its a fantastic buy and I highly recommend it. Click here or the picture at the top to be taken to amazon.co.uk to purchase.

PS. If you are a fan of Annie Leibovitz, you will really like this book, its got a lot of her best work in it and printed nice and big.
